Disclose fully and accurately
Age, income, occupation, existing policies, medical history and habits such as tobacco use all belong on the form exactly as they are. Accurate disclosure is what protects your nominee later.
Know your free-look period
After receiving the policy document you have a limited window to review it and return it if the terms are not what you understood. Read the document during that window, not after.
Understand grace, lapse and revival
Missing a premium does not necessarily end the policy immediately — there is a grace period, and lapsed policies can often be revived within specified conditions. Knowing the rules in advance prevents avoidable loss of cover.
Nominate carefully and keep it current
Record the nominee at the time of purchase and update it after major life events such as marriage or the birth of a child. Tell your family that the policy exists and where the document is kept.
Keep documentation in order
Identity proof, address proof, bank details and a recent photograph are typically required, and income proof or medical reports may be needed depending on age and sum assured. Keeping copies organised makes servicing and claims far simpler.
Ask before you sign
If any clause is unclear, ask. I am happy to walk through a policy document line by line with clients in Hajipur and across Bihar.
